Goodbye~ See you in 5 mins. :B

I decided that there was no need to have a secondary blog about weightloss/fitness because I just don’t post enough in this or my personal account. Additionally, I don’t have a whole lot of followers on either. Given those two considerations, my potential concern that I would be spamming people with info they’re not interested in simply would not be the case, and thus I have no reason to make an offshoot blog.

I will still talk about weightloss/dieting/fitness in my personal blog. If you’re interested in following me, it is http://r0ul3tte.tumblr.com/

I decided to try this recipe for curiosity’s sake, and all I can say is OMG YUM!!!

No, seriously, they were way better than anything I was expecting (which I wasn’t entirely sure of in the first place, mind you…). They are a wonderful indulgence that satisfies the salty junk food craving in a guilt-free manner. :)

However, I made mine a little different in that instead of tossing the leaves in olive oil, I laid them out first, then sprayed them with spray Olive Oil, flipped them, and sprayed the other side. Then I sprinkled them with a bit of seasoned salt.

As a side note, I generally like to use the aerosol cooking spray. I’m not fooled by the “0 cal” on the label, but the point is they can dispense a much smaller amount of oil over a larger mass, which in turn does save a lot of calories.

Portion control tips?

Something I’ve always (and continue to) struggled with is portion control. I eat what is considered a reasonable meal portion—maybe even a bit more—and I still want to eat afterward, whether I actually feel hungry or not.

So I’ve tried some tricks, and some have worked better than others, so here’s my tip that I personally find effective: brush your teeth!

Carry a travel size toothbrush and toothpaste if you must. After eating your meal (or even better, if you find yourself feeling satisfied before it’s finished), get up and go brush your teeth.

It helps in two ways: one is that it keeps you occupied for a few minutes while your stomach takes its time telling your brain it’s full. The second is that who wants to eat right after brushing their teeth? I can even resist the allure of high-fructose-injected dessert when my pearly whites are minty fresh.

THE RAW BROWNIE

You’ll be surprised at how incredibly rich and satisfying these are. Yes, I could go on and on about the amazing health benefits of The Raw Brownie (can you believe you just saw the words health and brownie in the same sentence? You’re welcome.), but what really gets me is the complex flavour that remarkably, comes from only five ingredients. They are light and cakey when you first bite into them, and then somehow melt and get all gooey, like a good brownie should!Ingredients:2 cups whole walnuts2 ½ cups Medjool dates, pitted1 cup raw cacao1 cup raw unsalted almonds, roughly chopped¼ tsp. sea saltDirections:1. Place walnuts in food processor and blend on high until the nuts are finely ground.2. Add the cacao and salt. Pulse to combine.3. Add the dates one at a time through the feed tube of the food processor while it is running. What you should end up with is a mix that appears rather like cake crumbs, but that when pressed, will easily stick together (if the mixture does not hold together well, add more dates).4. In a large bowl (or the pan you plan on putting the brownies in), combine the walnut-cacao mix with the chopped almonds. Press into a lined cake pan or mold. Place in freezer of fridge until ready to serve (it is also easier to cut these when they are cold). Store in an airtight container.

That sounds heavenly! No nutritional data by chance, is there?

happyhealthyruby:

The other day I got slightly pissed off when my boyfriend complained that “I never eat chocolate anymore”. I asked him what he meant, and he sulked, saying that he “can’t buy me treats like chocolate or cakes because I won’t eat them”.

I grew defensive pretty quickly and he changed his tune, but…

I agree with everything you said here so much. My boyfriend has a tendency to make similar remarks, so the other day I told him, “Well, if you wanted to date a guy, you should’ve asked out Christian and not me.” (Christian being one of his best guy friends.)

Anyway, everyone within earshot cracked up, and he hasn’t complained since. :)

So, yes, Christmas time is for the kids, though I did end up scoring something pretty cool myself. :)

Awesome! Warning, though, that thing seriously needs a flat hard surface. It hated my carpeted floors, and it made it almost unusable. But it’s SO much fun! I was really surprised what they could do for me with just that pad and the wiimote!

Ooh, thanks for the tip! I’ll keep that in mind. It’s been a blast so far!
